The early years…

My earliest money memory was watching my mom sit at our kitchen table, face filled with despair, looking down at the bills spread around her. Occasionally, she'd glance at a picture on the wall that said, "Lord, help me hang on one more day."

She never verbalized it, but I instinctively learned a limiting belief: that financial struggle was inevitable, and those with money were either lucky or corrupt. This powerful, yet unspoken, lesson formed the extent of my childhood money education.

My First Financial Plan (Hint: It was a punishment)

LLater, I joined the military and quickly found myself in debt. When the bill came, I honestly felt paying it was optional (as they say in the South, bless my heart). My creditors disagreed and sent the unpaid bill to my commander.

My commander's "punishment" (I still feel sorry for him – I was quite a mess back then!) was to create a debt payoff and savings plan. A year into that plan, my grandmother passed away. Because of the financial choices I'd made, I was able to cover the costs for both my mother and me to attend the funeral.

It was the first time I truly witnessed the power of intentional money choices – how they directly enable us to make meaningful life decisions, care for those we love, and show up when it truly matters.

This powerful lesson stuck with me. When I left the military, I began my now 20+ year career in the financial service industry, mostly in the Atlanta, Georgia area, where I currently live with my husband and children.

A Performance Review "From Hell" That Sparked My Self-Employment Glow-Up 🔥

Ever felt undervalued and burned out in corporate? 🙋‍♀️ I get it. My breaking point? A performance review where I was penalized for a home closing conflict! "Team spirit violation" for homeownership – seriously?!

That surreal moment fueled my "oh HECK no!" It confirmed what I instinctively knew: my gifts were meant for greater impact beyond the corporate box.

I wish I could say I rode into an entrepreneurial sunset. Instead, I stumbled, fell, and learned the hard way about the "self-employed gap life" – that scary bridge between a steady paycheck and consistent business income. My own journey revealed the gaping hole in traditional financial planning models; they simply aren't built for entrepreneurs.

This experience, and my conviction that we're called to use our talents for impact, ignited my true purpose. Now, I leverage my unique gift of making financial numbers a powerful tool to help women 40+ build a financial bridge to scary callings like self-employment. My Strategic L.E.A.P. Financial Framework℠ helps you get financially ready to confidently LEAP into being your own boss and create work that allows your true impact to flourish. 🎉
